Dermaplaning
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is an amazing, non-invasive exfoliating service that focuses on smoothing out skin texture. Not only does it create glowing skin it targets many common skin issues in such an elegant, less abrasive way.
Dermaplaning prevents the signs of aging, dry skin buildup, oil buildup and reduces the appearance of acne scars, fine lines & wrinkles. This style of exfoliating creates a beautiful polished canvas for makeup, facial serum, face moisturizer and all other natural skincare products. When skin is free of dead skin cells and debris your skin thrives in absorbing skincare and helps reduce the inflammation that acne causes.
THE PROCESS OF OUR DERMAPLANING FACIAL:
We cleanse & tone, then use a medical grade dermaplaning scalpel to remove dead skin cells, peach fuzz, dirt & debris from the top layer of your skin (the stratum corneum). We hold your skin taught, moving our way methodically to each section of your face. We finish off with targeted serums, solutions and hydrating skincare to penetrate your skin; revealing fresh, glowing skin. It is important when doing dermaplaning, extractions or exfoliation to use toner to seal in the pores and balance PH levels. These are one of the many things a licensed professional aesthetician is educated on so it is important to get any skin procedure done by a professional. We use a new dermaplaning tip for each client. If you have any questions on our process please feel free to CONTACT US anytime. We love to help.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I get Dermaplaning?
Cell Turnover is the skins process of producing new skin cells to replace dead skin cells every 28 days. Based on this time frame we recommend Dermaplaning once a month. This process allows healthy skin cells to thrive and come to the surface. Your skin will reward you with a consistently brighter, even-toned complexion
Will my hair grow back thicker?
Dermaplaning removes the vellus hair from the surface of your skin. This is commonly referred to as “peach fuzz”.
Because we are not removing the hair from the root we are not affecting the hair follicle so Dermaplaning cannot affect hair growth.
When a person shaves they are cutting the hair straight across; therefore, when the hair grows in it appears thick due to the blunt ends.
We cut the hair on an angle so the hair is tapered instead of being cut straight across. For this reason the hair does not grow back with a blunt edge; creating the illusion of it being thicker.
What clients may experience is the contrast of smooth, exfoliated skin against new regrowth which can feel like stubble. The hairs may look darker when they grow in but the follicle and hair itself is not manipulated in a way where it can grow in thicker.
It is important to keep up with daily skincare in between monthly dermaplaning sessions.
Are there any side effects?
Dermaplaning is a safe, minimally invasive procedure however some clients could experience:
- A slight wind burn sensation, sunburn/tight feeling and/or blotchiness for the first few days.
- Dryness, minor peeling, and flaking for the first few days.
- It is common for skincare products to tingle or slightly burn for the next 2 days. This is the result of the new fresh skin cells being exposed to skincare.
It is important to avoid the sun for 2-3 days after dermaplaning and follow all aftercare in order the keep your skin safe.
If you have to be in the sun please use SPF 50 and a sun hat. This is an awesome summer service replacement to peels because there is little downtime. We recommend receiving dermaplaning at the start of the week so when the weekend rolls around your skin is happy and healed. Once you go in the sun an SPF 50 must be used for the next 1-2 weeks. As a general rule sunscreen should every day you are outdoors and exposed to the sun!
Is Dermaplaning safe for all skin types?
This beauty service is safe for most skin types; however it is not recommended for:
- Sensitive Skin
- Active Acne
- Inflammatory Skin Conditions like rosacea and acne.
For clients who are have concerns with their skin condition we recommend booking in a SKINCARE CONSULTATION or CUSTOM FACIAL. We will go over your skin concerns, skin type, medical history, lifestyle and diet to choose the appropriate course of action to heal your skin.
